how has that not worked? if they ignore the PM, they are banned. there is not anymore that you can do than ban them and that can happen whether or not there is a silly announcement at the top of the board.Lucretius wrote:The point is, that hasn't worked. For every place you go to, there has to be some set of rules. People are breaking ours. Why should we be trampled upon? I'm not saying we go wild and excrement on them, but we need to enforce that authority is in control, not them.
this announcement has little to do with rules or showing that we have them. from what i can tell, it is simply a way to show off how much bigger and badder you are now that you are a minimod and if these guys are gonna be jerks by golly ill put them on a LIST and what are they gonna do then?

I know that it wasn't passed before, when somebody suggested a forum for Senior Members, but maybe it is time for us to have a moderator only forum. I think that some things have to be discussed with other moderators, and shouldn't be said in the regular forums. If their were only a few mods, this could be left to PMs, but with 13 mods and 2 admin, we need somewhere for all the moderators to be able to discuss issues easily, without putting them in threads that everybody can see.
Totally unrelated to the forum idea, what we need is a warning system. I know that Invision Power Boards has a system which can be enabled, and every user has a warn level. Every member starts at 0%, and everytime they break a rule(to an obviously extensive point), a mod can raise their level(about 20% or 25%). Once you hit 100% warn level, you are banned. If you are extremely good over a length of time, a mod may decide to lower your level by a couple percent(usually about 5% or 10%), but your record still shows that you were warned. The only people that can see your warn level and report, are you and the mods. I'm not sure, but I think I saw a similar mod while looking over some of the phpBB mods.
