Over at another forum I belong to, they have a thing called Probation, where you change the person's rank to [PROBATION] until they shape up or get banned. Very often, a person will join, make stupid posts, get on probation (Nate, the admin/site owner or Ark, the Ã¼ber mod, usually explodes at them first, if Toozin, the admin explodes at them, they are instantly banned. The wrath of Toozin is easily invoked and very dangerous) and get banned at their next post because they don't understand what they did wrong.

FDS and Blood arent so bad. FDS gets annoying sometimes, but I never thought bad of Blood.

But what about when he makes a post all in capslock, then says "oops, sorry, I did that whole post in caps lock" but doesn't do a single thing about it?

There should be some sort of rule about doing that more than once, at another forum I belong to, there are levels of discipline and every rule has a level listed next to it. Repeated offenses are the next level up (except if the person is already banned for the first offence

) and the final offense (if a person is banned and comes back with a new name) is an ISP alert, where you could lose your internet connection if you don't shape up.

We dont need rules, we just need to ban annoying people. So we need one rule "dont be annoying, stupid, or IFR-esque."

Oh, ok can a mod move my posts to the "Guidelines to Success" thread then? I also reiterate: probation is a good way to list offenders, or to show that someone is temporarily banned (so they don't get PMs or questions pointed toward them when they can't post. Not all mods are going to check the list constantly to see if someone got themselves on it and if the offense is now a reason to ban them.

this thread is ridiculous. no forum needs five stickies/announcements at the top. is it not possible to simply PM offenders and then ban them if they ignore the PMs, rather than making a new thread (one that will stay at the top of the forum indefinitely for that matter) that nobody will ever even check after this week?
