Good source for cartridge slots?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

You could also try getting a Game genie or a copy of Sonic & knuckles and ripping the cartridge slot out of it (although i've never tried this, so i'm not sure if it would work).

i'm kicking myself :x
Missed an auction for 14 megadrives for spares and repair last saturday. Could have been a cheap source of connectors.

To get a cartridge slot take one out of a real genesis/megadrive, or a game genie

With mine I'm taking it from the Genesis itself, since I have a broken one so why not?

take a gander at what you plan on doing with the connector. the one from the gen has 2 pretty mounting holes....

the ones from the games don't (or at least shouldn't)

The official electronics part name for a cartridge connector is a "card edge connector" and they have a good supply at Digikey. This one seems like the right one for a Genesis (check the datasheets though) but it is about $14 too. See what you think about it.

Yea, game genies are a great source. You can find them relatively easy if you go to a flea market. If you do use one, make sure you unassemble it correctly, unscrew all screws and the ONE UNDERNEATH the sticker. I didn't know there was one and I was prying the cartridge out of the case with one screw still intact.
Help me help you.

Pawn Shops! Best place to find game genies ever. If some of you guys really need a game genie and can't seem to find one, I can pick one up and send it to ya for $10.
