i went to the radio shack today, and got 4 AA Ni-MH batteries. these things pack like 1800 mA, but i have to let the damn thing charge, so it will be tomorrow by the time i can test out the power circuit. im gonna use a 9.6v Ni-Cad bat at 1000mA for the 12v. i'll post more later

ok i have re-charged the batteries and now i am getting 1.4v off the batteries, that means i will get 9.4v out of 6 batteries in each pack, so my question is can a 7808 regulate from a voltage very close to the proposed regulation point, ie. will a 7808 regulating from maybe 8.5v-8v, will that cause problems?

Hey, i tried to post yesterday, but (sniff)... My 21 in. CRT died   . i couldnt get my 15 inch out of storage until today. anywho, i rigged up the Ni-MH 3.6v and the Ni-Cd 9.6v to the N64, and i got about an hour of runtime out of it on F-Zero until the Ni-mh started to die and then the system started spontaneously resetting itself, and then all i got was a power light. :sigh:. i guess i'll just need a bigger battery and a DC-DC converter for the 3.3v. oh, speaking of regulators, i found one in the power pack, and when i hooked in the Ni-Cd pack, i got one volt. i dont really know how to use my MM, so that may be wrong.Cough, cough 3.3v,maybe, cough, hack, wheeze. thanks for all your help.

is there anyway to lower voltage other than a regulator?
