Dust Sleeves--What Kind of Plastic?

Post by Red Ronin »

Greetings, worldwide console hacker geniuses! I come to you in need of help.

For collecting purposes, some friends and I are wondering about the type of plastics used in older game sleeves. I've been informed that PVC (corrosive to precious NES games) was the official plastic of the 1980's. So, I'm wondering if I should move my five NWC carts to a different bin*.

And this is where you clever folks come in . Can you help determine the type of plastic used in, say, NES/GB/SNES sleeves? Or, maybe you already know? If not, how would we go about doing this? What methods can be used? Thanks very much for any help you could provide.

(Here's the thread that started this, just to make sure we don't retread any ground; it's a wee 1.5 pages.)

*Author does not actually own 5 NWC's, but he very well could. Besides, my copy of SMB3 is probably more fun anyway :P.
