I need help :(

Post by Super Mulletman »

My amplifying subwoofer keeps making a short *kzrt* sound randomly while I'm using it (sometimes softly, sometimes violently, but seemingly without damage), and, frankly, I don't have a clue why. I temporarily bypassed the fuse, in case there was problem there (I had to replace the fuse earlier in an unrelated accident), but there was no difference. The button is still "on", but the sound just cuts out for no reason, until I turn it off, then on again, only to have it repeat later. Help!

Oh, and when it cuts out, the "on" light goes off as well, but turns on for a fraction of a second when I turn it off.

Check all your speaker wires for loose connections/shorts. If those are fine, it's either a short in the sub or the head, a bad ground in the head, or you've got a bigger problem with the head.

Most likely it's a short.

Okay, there's been no liquid in it, but I think the switch may need to be cleaned. I'll have to look for shorts also. Thanks, seriously.
