Ok, Stupid Question about the PS0ne LCD...

Post by KonamiCode »

Ok, I've had to abandon the HipGear Screens, and I'm trying out a PSOne LCD (the fact that it shares the same voltage as the PSOne is a big plus). So I'm hooking it up, and for some reason I can't get any video signal. Anyone know which video signal (NTSC, SVideo, RGB) uses by default? I tried NTSC, and fooled aroun with the others a bit but I am not sure if I was trying them correctly. I was able to plug it straight into a regular playstation and get a screen, but that would be all pins connecting, so I know it's not a bad screen.

Anyways, would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Er, just to clarify, I HAVE cracked open the LCD and PsOne, and I'm directly connecting the pins on each device. I can get audio correctly, and the +5V pin which tells the LCD whether it should be on or off, but no video.

Thanks.

hmm...have you tried just plugging the header board into your psone to see if the video on the lcd will actually work?

Check my diagram near the end of the thread. I can't seem to get my screen to work w\o the board with the video connectors on it. I can't test it cause my header board is junk since I desoldered it.

Well I had taken off the header connector on the PSOne before, and put in a 6 pin header so I could just use a CD-Rom Audio wire to connect to a header I had put on the the Hipgear screen, so I know the composite from the PSOne should still work. I suppose there is the possibility that somehow I screwed the composite pin.

Right now I have two 6 pin headers replacing the original header on the PSone. I don't have enough alligator clips to directly clip every pin over, so I've been thinking about extending the bottom of where the pins on the LCD headers are by soldering 6 pin headers onto the bottom of that, and getting more cd audio wires (I know those work, rather than the 6wire one I put together last night) to connect them.

I don't want to take off the headers from the LCD screen, but I was thinking of taking off the "output" one (the one you'd typically find on the PSOne), and putting it on the PSOne directly and just connecting the damn thing.

The screen normally takes RGB and S-video Y from the PSOne. Or you can use composite video in the 1/8" jack in the back. Use a multimeter to follow the wires to the board.

Stereth, thanks for the tip about the a/v port. That worked, I just wanted to make sure I was still getting good connections from the PSOne. Once I get some more clips (stinking ones I got from Radio Shack last night are two big), I'll be able to hook up the S-video/RGB stuff.
