my own portable device

well this is my question, how would I go about making a custom portable not
of any game system but of my own design, that could like run programs and things
show pictures and text and be able to play music?, It would not be a phone
or anything like that, but I would like it to be able to run programs and have memory,
Ideas? please and thank you

You could try a tablet or a netbook if you don't want to use a machine designed specifically for video games, though it sounds like a psp or something similar would suit you. Even a Pandora would work I think.

I was actually just discussing a homemade pocket PC concept with PalmerTech, when he linked me to this page. Would you be interested in commissioning me? I'm thinking I could build a pocket-friendly device powerful enough to run emulators at least up to SNES and the likes, and of course capable of playing music, surfing, etc.
