Oh my Lord - it finally came to life! Shortening the relocated cartridge slot's wires did the trick. All I needed to do was take off an inch or two... on Every. Single. Wire. Boy that was fun. Mainly why I held off on doing it until today. Good news is that it works and all the controls worked on the first try.

Yup, works for SuperFX games just fine.

Look Ma! No wires! Running off of FOUR AA alkaline batteries here. I thought this TI power regulator could only handle 5.5v max but maybe since I threw in a bridge rectifier it's doing something. Whatever - it will work with both alkalines and rechargeables since the power regulator will boost voltages lower than 5v. Pretty sweet. Automatic switching from batteries when wall power is plugged in also makes its repeat appearance in this portable using one of these bad boys.

Pretty proud of how the shoulder buttons came out. Had to get some 2.5mm high tact switches from RadioShack because the rubber membrane switches I had were too tall. It's a tight squeeze in the case!

I still have some tweaking to do for the controls to tighten them up a bit and I'm getting a bit of interference on the screen, but those are fixable. Up next is building the audio amp circuit with digital pot control and finishing this portable! Friggin' finally!

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.
