Mac Event OS X Lion

There were two things that caugh my eye (i.e. I"m looking forward to it)

1) the mac appstore
2) the launchpad (this was badly needed IMHO)

The other funny thing is I'm noticing a lot of iPhone elements showing up in mac apps.
Example: if you download the new facetime beta app for the mac you'll notice that you can edit your favorite lists. This list behaves exactly like a table view on the iphone.
I've also noticed a lot of the toolbar buttons showing up in apps like iPhoto

I do like the updates to Mac OS X, but overall I thought the event was a little bland. A new MacBook Air, an iLife update, and a Mac OS update. Big deal. Where's my Mac minitower?

My sentiments exactly. All of the 10.7 features seem to be copying things from iOS, which don't really impress me much. I like my computer OS to stay as a computer OS.

The MacBook Air is an amazing feat of engineering. Processor seems a little slow, but for a grand I might pick one up. Seems a lot more useful than the iPad for my purposes.

I think the new Air is actually a decent buy compared to other slim-and-light laptops running off ultra-low-power Core 2s.

This is exactly what I was thinking, especially with the SSD standard. However, I don't think I'd be happy with ANY slim-and-light laptop. I like my MacBook Pro...

Me too... I'm happy with my white unibody macbook. But I wouldn't mind the macbook being updated with SSD the high pixel density display etc.

I'd still like to keep the DVD drive for movies.

What do you dislike about OSX?

I like Unix based operating systems just not Osx. If I was ever given a mac Ubuntu is going straight on it. Plus there is wine in Ubuntu.

there is parallels, virtualbox, and bootcamp on osx too
osx is simple on the surface, but they give you a terminal and a bsd subsystem, so you may poke around the depths of the os all you want.

and best of all, it works when you need it to.
