With SuSE, you can read and write to FAT filesystems. NTFS partitions are readable, but cannot be written to. I am not sure if this is because it is not supported or if this is part of how it is set up (supposedly, NTFS is more secure than FAT, but I think I heard that from Micro$oft, so I dunno.)

Mandrake linux can read and partition NFTS drives as well (I think Mandrake recently changed their name but I can't remember what to). Supposedly Longhorn is going to have a new bada** file system to replace NFTS. $ounds to me like MS is trying to keep people from dual-booting their systems.
As far as Firefox, those using IE should switch - if not for security (which may or may not be better) then for speed. I have an "older" computer (ca. 1998) and the switch from IE to Firefox a year ago sped up (perception-wise) my internet by about half. If you have a newer computer (which I assume most of you younger fellows do), then maybe you can just power through using IE, but with an older system, Firefox (or Konquerer) is a must.

I primarily use Firefox. Sometimes Mozilla. On occasion, IE for when a multimedia site rejects "netscape based systems" from running (like Yahoo! Music) And I run Netscape Navigator 4 when I have my machine emulating a Macintosh Quadra through Basilisk II.
One PC at school still runs 95, IE 4.0, Office for Windows, Lotus SmartSuite 96, Photoshop 2, and it has a turbo button.

There's my answer in a bit longer format.RedHat wrote:If you want to be able to read from and write to a Windows NT, 2000, or XP partition from Red Hat Linux, do not set the Windows partition to file system type NTFS. If the Windows partition is of type NTFS, the partition can not be read in Red Hat Linux. If the Windows partition is of type VFAT, the partition can be read in Red Hat Linux.
If you have multiple Windows partitions, not all of them have to be of the same file system type. If you have more than one partition in Windows, you can set one to use VFAT and store any files you wish to share between Windows and Red Hat Linux on it.

See as this fits more with this thread.
I found this and it shows the overall decline of IE. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=l ... tnG=Search

I am a geek.
no, they cancelled that feature. it was going to be the backbone of their indexed searching system, but, like every other feature they wanted in longhorn, it had to be scaled back or removed. longhorn will suck.rawls wrote:Mandrake linux can read and partition NFTS drives as well (I think Mandrake recently changed their name but I can't remember what to).
