Audio Soldering Mistake

Post by Goldstubble »

I was attaching the left audio wire to the Snes mobo (and having a hell of a time doing it) when the lead on the IC came off with the solder. :wtf:
I'm not really an expert on soldering, so is there any hope that I can still have audio on the left?
If not, what is my best plan of action?

When you say came off, do you mean it completely broke off of the chip, or it just lifted itself off the board?

If the chip itself is still intact, you might still be able to attach a lead to it...but if the chip itself is broken, you'll more than likely need to replace it.

The chip isn't broken, but the lead is practically gone. Here is a picture of the problem.
Which would be better: mono audio or hooking up both speakers to the right?

Also, where would I get a chip like that?

Woh, that's alotta no lead lol.

Um...best I can say is, try to get a bead of solder to stick to it. If it does, you can still use it...otherwise, I dunno where you'd find another one of those.
