Best Netflix Streaming Device?

Best Netflix Streaming Device?
We're getting Netflix in a couple days and I was wondering what the best streaming device would be. We have a Wii, so that covers our standard def TV, but we don't have anything for our HDTV. The problem is that it only supports 480i, 480p, and 1080i through component. Every HD streaming device outputs 720p and won't upconvert it to 1080i, but will instead use 480p if 720p isn't an option (I believe the 360 is the only one that will upconvert the 720p to 1080i). Any recommendations?

Re: Best Netflix Streaming Device?
I've seen the Wii's Netflix streaming and while good enough to get by isn't as good as the 360 or the PS3. Admittedly, the Wii wasn't hooked up with component cables but if you're watching on an HD set there are better options available.
If you have one, I'd say go with the PS3 over the 360 since the online service is free (you have to be a gold member to stream on the 360). You need a disc for PS3 (like Wii), but I prefer the interface to the one on the 360 so it doesn't bother me.

You get free streaming to your computer as well, so with all your monitors, that might be your best choice.

Hm, I'll wait and see how the Wii looks when we get signed up and get the disc. If it's close to good enough for the HDTV, I'll get a component cable for it and just use that.
They'll be ok for individual viewing.
Ya, bluray was another reason I would go with the PS3. I'll just have to see.jones wrote:If you have one, I'd say go with the PS3 over the 360 since the online service is free (you have to be a gold member to stream on the 360). Unfortunately, my biggest monitors are only 15", not even close to our 48" HDTV or even our 37" SD CRT. Kinda difficult for the whole family to gather around a laptop.ghosstt wrote:You get free streaming to your computer as well, so with all your monitors, that might be your best choice.

We signed up today for the 2 DVD at a time plan. I really like the streaming on PC, my dad will probably get some pretty good use out of it when he goes out of town for work. We're going camping Thursday-Sunday, so unless the Wii disc arrives tomorrow, I won't be able to try it out until Sunday.

I love netflix streaming. I do it all on my PC though because 24 inch LCD>32 inch SD CRT any day of the week. A ton of my friends do it on 360 and are really happy with it though.

Netflix streaming through Windows Media Center is pretty darn good.

Excellent

That would be my first choice, but I need something more user friendly and wallet friendly.palmertech wrote:Netflix streaming through Windows Media Center is pretty darn good.
Got the Wii disc, it looks pretty good. I would even say it rivals most of Comcast's HD content, and that is through composite while the cable uses component (Comcast compresses the crap out of their stuff

I think Netflix streaming through Windows Media Center is nice option in it. You can do for Windows Vista-based PCs. In Windows Media Center it is a new Netflix tile will appear under TV and Movies. To stream movies and TV shows from Netflix, you need to just click on the new Netflix tile and login with your Netflix account and you can access it. The entire Netflix library can be searched using the Windows Media Center-compatible remote control and you can easily manage it.
