360 fan problems

Post by casper7 »

Was testing my xbox and didn't notice the red and black wires for one of my fans were touching. Needless to say it fried the protecter on the bottom of the mobo. Any ideas on another spot to hook up my fans. I have an idea that might work but would be nice to have any other options

you want to wire the fan to 12V?
you can wire to 5V but its a little trickier.

I can help you further here;

If you don't care about noise, you could wire it directly to the power connector's 12v. Xboxscene would be the best site to find power points (and anything else xbox related).

yes, like vskid said the 1st thing you need to do is to pick a voltage.
the adapter is 5V i believe and the easiest alternative is to wire it to 12V
but that will make it louder.
here is a tutorial on how to wire it to 12V

and here is a voltage pinout of a 360 mobo
