Broke a GBC - Blown Fuse Maybe?

Post by zzaz3 »

The about a week ago I managed to take the backlight out of an old broken iphone. I thought it would be cool to fashion it into my gameboy color.

The only problem was that it needed 18V of power to run. So I decided to just have it run through the link cable jack and to two 9V batteries. (Stupid idea!! I've always been interested in this kind of stuff, but never knew much about it. Everythings starting to click now that I've broken almost 3 gameboys in the past week.)

I think that the 18V went on the board and blew a fuse somewhere. So, all I need to do is find the fuse and bridge the connection. Any ideas where the fuse might be?

I do not have an answer to your question, but I feel that it is important that you know:

You CANNOT backlight a Gameboy Color. It just won't work. However, you may frontlight it (other than the AGS-001 GBASP, you are gonna have a tough time finding a frontlight, just sayin).

When you take the back off the GBC, you can see two fuses down at the bottom section, directly above the headphone and power ports. They are the larger black components, with a solder connection on each side. You could use a wire to connect both ends, and that should bypass the fuse if it has blown.
