So. I want to make a N64 portable that is able to be charged then when being not plugged in, have at least 2 hours of nonstop playtime. Which battery should I use? I'm thinking Lithium-ion battery, but I really have no idea which to choose. Some said that the lithium-ion battery EXPLODES when it overcharges, undercharges, etc but then my dad said that it was only one batch of them that were exploded.. But I looked into it and I think he's wrong.. But otherwise, which battery is best for the specifications I just stated.
Also, what's franken-casing and on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to make a N64 Portable?
it was one (might have been more, actually) batch of batteries that was exploding from normal use. overcharging a lithium battery will ruin it, and it has the potential to explode. It is also more likely to explode if shorted. You're fine if you have a protection circuit, though.

Franken casing is taking anything not intended to be a electronics case and modifying it to suit your needs. And with all the info on the n64 portabilizing should not be that hard. unless you are blind.

Also, anyone got a good tutorial on making the N64 portable? I've looked at the one thread by *o* but it's really really hard to follow the tutorials he posted. (They aren't very detailed... :\) Also, I looked at those pictures that just show the wiring but those just look plain confusing. D:
You may have heard of him. Bacteria did a bunch of instructional vids on youtube. Those may help you. I think his username is MODDEDbyBacteria. Watch those.

Don't even bother with AAs, you're better off just using wall power if they're your only option. They'll last an hour if you're lucky. You need at least sub-C NiMH batteries for them to be worth it. Rechargeable AAs would maybe be worth it if you only need a little battery life and plan on being plugged in most of the time.
Hmm. Bacteria's tutorial seems good but sometimes it's hard to follow along? I'm not exactly sure how to wire some of it? Don't want to buy all the components unless I'm 100% that I can actually do this... Also, on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to make the N64 portable?
With help from the forums it shouldn't be that hard. This is a complete wiring diagram. It shouldn't be that hard to follow. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/H ... gram-2.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
