I am hoping to get your opinions on what I should get: a PSP go or a PSP 3000. I am currently debating between the two..... if you have either/both OR have a personal opinion on a specific system with a thoughtful comment; a reason WHY one is better than the other, that would be MUCH apreaciated
I'll start this off by saying that everything I say is (obviously) my own personal opinion based on my experience with the PSP. I own the original 1000, 2000, and 3000 models. I'll be blunt with this and say get the 3000 model if you just want a PSP. Don't even consider the Go, and here's why:
1. Less functionality, higher price tag. What I mean is you lose UMD functionality and are forced to download from the PSN with the prices that Sony dictates. Even older games that you can find on Amazon for 4 dollars are on the PSN for 20 bucks. If we're talking simple hardware a PSP Go is 80 dollars more than a 3000. Save the money and buy some games!
2. Avilability of games. Here, obviously you can only play what is on the PSN which is a small percentage of all PSP releases. Even with new titles that are released on UMD are NOT gauranteed to be released on the PSN on the same day. It took a few weeks after Little Big Planet was released on UMD to be posted on the PSN, which left many new Go owners pissed.
Again, I couldn't imagine paying a company more money for a product that has less functionality (Yeah I know you can use a PS3 controller, big whup) And we're not talking a little bit of money, we're talking a lot of money.
So enjoy your new PSP, but I will recommend if you want more fun on a PSP get an earlier (Star Wars white bundle, God of War red bundle, Daxter bundle) 2000 model, it's my favorite of the 3.
Well thank you for the information...Ill be sure NOT to get a psp go.
Also, why would you suggest a 2000 vs a 3000...is there a main specific difference between the two???
My last question I can think of (at the moment): - Can the psp 1000, 2000, or 3000 play UMD's from different regions? I like a lot of foreign UMD games, so I was just wondering
Only UMD movies are region locked. If you convert a movie and put it on a memory stick, it'll work on a PSP from any region.
I would get whichever one you can put a custom firmware on (I haven't been paying attention to the PSP hacking scene, so I have no idea what you can or can't put custom fw on). Makes it much better to use.
