Internal Wifi Antenna (360)

Post by thetwoj1014 »

Anyone know how Ben accomplishes this feat? Rug and I think it would be a really cool addition to the laptop we're working on but can't seem to figure out the details.

Also, why not just sit the original antennas just inside the case wall? Would 1/4" of komatex really destroy the signal quality?

Thanks :D

He uses like 1 1/2inches thick, I believe.

...but that's not internal? The antenna is clearly sticking out the back of the case.

He's pointing out that the case material is 6 times thicker than what you were asking, which is why the antenna sticks out. Yes, it would cut down on signal strength and range.

Actually I missed the internal part. All these AP tests have made me tired.
Yeah it will cut down on signal range. I would suggest wiring a regular ethernet jack and then using a wireless bridge (or an old cheap router hacked to be one) which will get better signal and usually be a lot cheaper.

I really don't that it would make a difference considering your material. I'm moving mine to the inside as I feel like i'm always worried about snapping it off. Gonna paint it soon and will post the results.
