Xbox 360 Laptop Questions

Hey guys, I'm new fairly new to the forums:P I've been eyeing the massive 360 laptop project for the past couple of weeks and planned that I should do it for the summer. However, I have never modded or hacked before and after reading on the forums for a bit it seems like a bad idea for a newbie like me to pull off a task:P I have been thinking a bit on how to "simplify" the project. My idea is to take apart the casing for the xbox 360, make a brand new case without modifying any internal parts, and then hacking the screen, putting another case and connecting the both like a regular laptop. The downside to this is if can work is it will be really really thick:P (but I wasnt planning on using this on my lap anyways) So tell me if itll work like the others if you can:P And my last question is, what type of screen should I use?

You could do that. I'm doing one now and honestly that's all it is is removing/reloating/adding components to make it smaller. If you're ok with it being bigger, you don't really have to mod anything. Just get extender cables for everything.
