Computer Status Monitor

Hey, I'm new to this forum and I had a question that I was quite interested in getting answered. I want to construct a status monitor (Displays the PC's CPU usage, Core temperature so on and so forth) for my desktop PC. I have basic knowledge on soldering and the such, and can follow instructions very well. Essentially, I want it to be an LCD screen connected by USB, that when on, displays the info. The screens I have available and a PSP Slim 2001 LCD screen, and a GBA (probably wont work) screen.

No. It had malfunctioned, so I did a tear down. Grabbed some useful parts that were still functional, and the LCD screen was a magical size. I also loved the clarity. So I still want to know if there is any way I can do this.

Just soldering wires to points on the screen to USB,no, you can't. You need some sort of processor and LCD controller in between USB and the screen to make it usable.

I can remove a couple parts from the PSP's motherboard, like the CPU and such, and get an LCD controller online, right?

Buy a PSP with a broken screen, replace it with yours. That is how you make your PSP screen work. Any other option will probably cost a ton and/or be beyond your skill.

You would have to buy an expensive controller if you wanted to use a PSP or GBA screen with a computer. You could buy multiple screens that are made for composite/RGB/USB input for the cost of one controller.

Sorry if this is a delayed bump, but I saw something on hackaday a few months ago about a project some guy was doing that was open-source and used a PSP LCD connected to a custom PCB that he designed. If you have any programming knowledge, you could use his resources or procure the control board that he makes. I'll try to find the link (EDIT: Scoured Hackaday and couldn't find it, sorry )

All the stuff you're talking about is reported by most motherboards' SMART info; rather than go hacking and modding for tons of bucks, I'd recommend using something like this as a second monitor, and just keep Speedfan, or a similar program that monitors SMART, open on it:

Its is nice feature Multi input connection function, include TV, AV, VGA.
The best resolution is 800 x 600,but I can adjust it to 1024 x 768 very easily.

if your using a PSP LCD just keep it intact and install the homebrew PSPDisp. either use it wirelessly or via USB. if you havent hacked the firmware on your PSP there are TONS of tutorials out there
