Re: how to get to sleep :(
The hardest thing to do is to "stop thinking" so you can fall asleep, and I personally have found the best way for that is to create a diversion of some sort. I always listen to music when I try to fall asleep. Something that I like and have heard a lot so my brain doesn't need to think about what it is hearing. People do this with relaxation tapes or sounds of the rainforest as well, I guess those you just bored yourself to sleep haha.

Get some exercise about an hour before bed, take a warm shower, and go to sleep.

If you're staring into a light, like a computer screen, it tells your brain it's still daylight, meaning you won't feel tired until you really need sleep.
The best way is to read a book in dim light about an hour before you go to sleep.

lol im 14 but yep problem solved i bored my self to sleep around 7 and woke up like 2 mins agolimpport wrote: this works for me, sometimes. when that doesnt work, i take a littleheroinmelatonin. its a natural chemical downer (naturally occurring in the human body) and it will put you right to sleep. if youre old enough to drink, whiskey or bourbon will knock you out pretty well too. also nyquil.

Yeah, watching tv to fall asleep is very counterproductive. Just find something to do that doesn't involve a bright light.

Or you could drink a lot of orange juice. I have no idea why drinking orange juice gets me sleepy but I tried orange juice and whiskey. Well lets just say I was fighting to stay awake after 7:30pm. It was pretty bad....lol

Melatonin, yeah the stuff you're body should make on its own. I have a bottle of it next to my bed. I've only had to use it once, but taking about 9mg (3 tablets) did help me fall asleep fast and get some good rest.

Careful with the melatonin take too many and it will give you extremely vivid nightmares. It works once you figure out how much you need.Sparkfist wrote:Melatonin, yeah the stuff you're body should make on its own. I have a bottle of it next to my bed. I'd refrain from the melatonin on a regular basis because then when you don't have the melatonin (for whatever reason), it'll be harder to go to sleep.budnespid wrote:Careful with the melatonin take too many and it will give you extremely vivid nightmares. Just relax. Try and calm your mind. Maybe get a lava lamp and just sit and watch it to help calm you down.

What you need to do is stop working on your projects so late! I know it's what keeps me up sometimes...

Re: how to get to sleep :(
Just keep your eyes closed and your entire body relaxed. Have it as dark as possible always when you get in your bed. Pretty common sense probably, but in case there's any lights. I find that starting on my back for a few minutes and then turning over onto my stomach is really comfortable.. usually how I sleep. On the side is good sometimes too. I always fall asleep within 5-10 mins. of hitting the pillow and sleep like a baby through the night. Just try not to think about having trouble falling asleep. Just stay relaxed and think about how good the bed feels
