I got the batteries from batteryspace about 8 months ago. I don't think they sell these anymore.

The screen is the one LOB recommended from this thread.

Well it rained pretty much all day today in OH and what's the best thing to do on a rainy day? OK, what's the 2nd? :) Play video games of course. The 3rd? Mod stuff. So that's what I did. I'm 99% finished with Project SGP-1. I just want to add a reset button.

Here's some quick pics I took. Better pictures tomorrow. Youtube video will follow later in the week

Cartridge slot re-wired.

Running Mega Turrican, one of favorite video games.
The thing to the left of the speaker grill is the volume dial. I made up a dirty LM386 amp for audio and it's working pretty good.

Size comparison with the Nomad. I like mine better.

Looks great! The name of your portable reminds me of Stargate.

What happened to your blog? I enjoyed reading your NESp Delight progress but now it's gone. :(

The voltage regulator is the 5V (DE-SW050) by Dimension Engineering. They are about 15 min from where I live so I just went over there and bought a couple. The portable cuts off when the batteries are around 6.45 V. The datasheet for SW050 says min Vin is Vout+1.3V. So they are .15 V wrong. :)

The electrical tape probably wasn't needed but I was afraid the back of screen would contact the system board.

This weekend I finally had the time to finish this guy up. I added a reset button and a low battery led.

The low battery circuit I used can be found here: http://www.iroquois.free-online.co.uk/lithled.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I got the IC from a really cool place on the east side of Cleveland OH called Electronic Surplus (http://www.electronicsurplus.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). The part cost $9 bucks, so it's not cheap. But if you are looking for an easy to implement low battery solution I recommend this.

I changed the resistor values from 680K to 800K(330K+470K in series) and from 150K to 168K(18K+150K in series). The led starts to light up around 6.9V. The unit shuts off when the batteries are around ~6.55V (seems to vary a little). This gives me about 10-15 min of play time.

I was able to do some real world tests and the batteries lasted 4 hrs. No bad IMHO!

Youtube video will be posted soon... I hope. :)

This is simply awesome. Could you provide us LM386 audio amp schematics? That'd be appreciated...

I think in the datasheet is the schematics that he used, but I am waiting for the answer too.
