Is it possible to not split the inverter board and run the lines from the brick into the laptop and leave the whole board intact? What are the pros and cons of this? Also, my screen has no speakers so I bought some stand alones. Assuming I can run lines to the inverter in the top, could I piggy back the power before it enters the inverter to also run the speakers?
To any who followed that kudos. I've drawn a rough pic in paint but can't upload it since I'm posting from my phone. will as soon as I get home though.

yeah, it's definitely possible to not split the invertor board. the only reason that it's usually done is that we'd normally want the monitor portion as thin as possible and the power supply is the thickest part in the monitor. the only downside to keeping it all intact is that it will just be much thicker. if you can deal with that, then it's fine.
pros - much easier to wire
cons - makes the monitor super thick
Regarding the speakers, it depends on the volatage they take. if the speaker power supply is thin enough, you can add that into the top and piggy back the power coming in directly from the wall for the monitor. if the speaker power supply is too thick, you need to see what voltage they run off of. I've seen some do 12v, some do 9v. it would definitely effect how you wire it.

Thanks collin. Once again, I'm at work and can't look at the speakers. They're Logitech S-120 PC Speakers.
Re: looking for advise on wiring power supplies
So its got this metal box looking invertor with a 9v output
Re: looking for advise on wiring power supplies
maybe it needs 9v then, but I was thinking about most speakers how they have the power supply built into the power cord and then on the back of the speaker where you plug it in, it would be like "12v 1A" or something. does it say "9v" right there on the speakers right next to the power input?

Re: looking for advise on wiring power supplies
Yeah. The invertor is encased in this metal box which is gonna up th thickness........again. I'm up to like 6 inches (kidding). But the case is engraved 120v input 9v output. Can I wire the 120v end to the ac jack on the monitor?
Re: looking for advise on wiring power supplies
yea, so I just went for it and it worked. Top will be about 1.5" but ill get over it. these speakers are SO loud.
