That would have been kinda cool actually... don't you guys think? a) No console has ever even done that, and b) they would have made more games in stereo.bicostp wrote:SIDE NOTE: There is so much empty space in the 2600 because Atari origionally designed it to have dual stereo speakers internally.
Possibly Making an Atari 2600 Portable

Sorry. I feel sarcastic tonight.
It would be cool for the Synthcart and Pitfall 2, though!

If you want to build an Atari yourself, you need the 3 chips. Buy an Atari 2600, and gut it. Once you gut out the 3 chips, you can rebuild the circuitry (plus remove the RF part) to make the board MUCH smaller. You can easily make the board at least a 3x3 if not smaller by rebuilding it yourself. AtariAge as well as a few other sites has full schematics that you can rebuild it, or just check out the traces on the Atari itself. Its a single layer board, so its easy to do to rebuild it.

The Linux tan girl eh, HK-47?
I just found out about OS-tan characters (usually girls) yesterday... interesting story behind them. I also like how they each have there own thing that corresponds to their respective OSs. Like the MS-DOS one, she's shy because MS-DOS is always running in the background, but out of sight.
