Yeah, the only reason the inside pins connect initally is because of the expansion port on the underside. Because you're not going to add an N64 DD to your portable, it can be removed, and the cartridge slot soldered to the outside pins.

That is not supposed to be connected across the dark green line. ... That would probably short the power supply.

Yes, the light green on a printed board is the circuit wiring, not the dark.

Yes, this through me off at first too. Unfortunately that means that whatever you might have bridged is... bad.
