The Nintendo Trilogy

Post by anman619 »

Hello members of The Ben Heck Forum! I have an idea for a project perfect for you guys and gals. I was thinking about a project for me and I found this.

Obviously Skittlespider put a lot of work into this project and I admire him for that. I was thinking of something a little simpler. Then I saw this.

Vomitsaw is working hard also. How about putting An Nes, Snes, and N64 into a computer tower?

Instead of three systems, you could have one compact unit with one power cord, and only three AV connections. I need a lot of help for this, especially from Vomitsaw, but I will take into account any suggestions Thanks!

Keep the original PSU, it has 12v, 5v, and 3.3v, which will power all the systems you mentioned.
Also, my Instructable is the first related! Woo!

No, why?

It sounds like a cool idea, though. You could do cart slot relocations and put them at the front where the disk drives, etc would usually go. The controller ports could go there, too, if there's enough room. Put in an A/V switcher, and A/V ports on the back, and there you go! :D I think you actually don't need the switcher, you can wire all the outputs to one port, as long as no more than one system is on at a time. I think.

instead of 3 av cables you could use one of these a/v selectors

I was making exactly what you mention last year, but then I quit on it due to my own lack of interest.

I'm switching gears. Instead of a computer tower, I have a new idea. My family VCR recently broke down after several years of faithful service. I took out the guts and found there was plenty of space for a couple circuit boards. I will take some pictures to show you.

Yay! It's good to see projects back from the dead! Will it still be top loading, or will the VCR slot play into it somehow?

You could fit a system per two DVD drive bays on a compy case with a compy inside it. At the same time. :D

I could fit two consoles on mine along with my computer.

I plan on putting an NES where the tapes used to go, and the gigantic cartridge will go in like a VHS. I'm also adding an N64 in there. There's plenty of room.

Yesterday I bought an N64 from the local Exchange for 20 dollars. It came with all the fixings, including a memory card. I also picked up Goldeneye 007 for $8. I tried opening the case up with a Bic pen, but I always stripped it on the Ninten-screws. I'll have to get a pen with a tougher material.

Does anybody know the power requirements for the N64? I think it's 7V and 12V, but I'm not sure. I cannot move forward without definite answers.

It's 12v and 3.3v. But the 12v line will run off as low as 7.4v.

Oh great! Thanks Hailrazer. Do those numbers need to be exact to work? I don't want to fry my board because of a stupid mistake.
