right, i was planning on getting a proper charger

but even with this it would be safest to build in a multimeter?

it's perfectly safe with the PCB and a smart charger. If you read up a little on them, you'll find that they have an optimal voltage that prolongs the life of the battery. If you always keep it charged as high as it'll go or as low as it'll go, it'll stop holding it's charge well. That's what he's saying.

But unless you're just letting sit there undercharged or fully charged, it just isn't that big of a deal. And if you really are that worried about it, buy a gauge along with the battery for $2-3 dollars more. Don't build one.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Im not so worried about it, these battereis are a lot more picky than a lot of people realise, there is only so much protection cicuits andsmart charegrs can do, if you dont look after them it wont be long before there dead. and theres nothing wrong with building a simple 3 led volt meter that will light an led when the voltage drops to a certainlevel adjstable with a trimpot. my advice would be to stop disharging the 11.1 V pack at 10 volts.

I had a llok at those pcbs, soecifically the 11.1 V one and they stop discharging at 2.4 volts per cell, if you got it down to that it would either lose most of its capacity or would just never take a charge again, you can only do that to a cell once maybe twice.

well i suppose it wouldn't hurt to put an led indicator to tell me when to stop running the battery.
anything you can tell me on how to make one?
-thanks
