TI is amazing! I got one PTH08080WAH delivered priority overnight for free.

After I got it, they asked for me to do a survey on their site, and I figured it was the least I could do. :P

No, there is no e-mails or anything. All you have to do is set up an account (free and doesn't need a credit card number) and then request a free sample of the product you want. Not all samples are free but some of the DC-DC converters everyone uses in portables are. The different types of the PTH08000, get the one of the free ones, the only difference is mount type (SMD, through hole, etc.). Just find the product you want and open its page and click request free sample.

It would appear that this offer is no longer available. I was just on the TI site, hunting around, and very impressed, but I couldn't find any "free" samples. It does look like you can buy 100 for about 10 bucks.

If I am wrong in this, please make me aware of it as I would love to get my hands on a free one.

Edit:

Erg. I really wish there were a Delete button. I have now realized that they only offer the free samples on some of the products.

However, I will point out that the product that this thread was created for is not a product which they have free samples on anymore.

I will attempt to research posts through more in future.

It works you just need the new part number which is PTH08000WAH or PTH08000WAZ.

Thanks Hailrazer! I must admit this is one of the few posts I didn't read all the way through, so I must have missed this!

Free Sample ordered. 1 should be enough.

As I recall when I was last on their site, they were about $70 for 97 or something like that.
