If you do not know how to connect a battery to a screen, then most likely you are in WAY over your head.

You might want to start with an easy project and work up.

Spend about 2 months reading through every post on Benheck.com. Then, read them a second time. Then a third. Then a fourth time.

Do that, and you will be all set for your PS2 laptop.

I mean, that's why I did and it worked quite nicely 8)

You won't get much battery life on a cheap-ish with a normal 15" or so monitor, those things can draw like 3 amps at 12v.

http://www.powerstream.com/BP-23.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
this battery with the battery add-on will last 7 or so hours,
and at 12v it can run from 2-4amps

That would be a terrible battery for your project. Lead acid batteries are too large and heavy to be a reasonable portable power source.

The one you linked weighs over two pounds (!) and looks pretty big in the pictures. Further, it outputs 3A at 12v, which means it could power the screen alone for about one hour. Combined with the PS2's power draw, you'd be lucky to get a half-hour of runtime with that battery.

You should look at Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) or Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) batteries for this project if you want a reasonably compact power source that'll give you an acceptable runtime.

as eagle said that battery would be horrible for a PS2p maybe go with some Li-Po or Li-Ions, there small and usually have good battery life.

Are you sure you want to have two batteries for the system? That seems rather inelegant and impractical.

A bigger-capacity battery would likely be cheaper and more compact than two batteries, not to mention avoiding the problem of making sure both are charged.

Neverused, he's building a laptop, he doesn't want a 5" screen, more like 15". As in a computer monitor, he wants to know how to connect to that.

go with one battery, it is not remotely difficult to hook both the screen and ps2 to the same battery, it'll save you money, space, weight, and the difficult process of charging each battery separately.

Go with a 14.8v or 11.1v li ion or li po battery pack, you'll need a lot more than 2.3 Ah to get a reasonable playing time.

if you dont care about how small it is, then get something like a toshiba SDP91S portable dvd player from kijiji or craiglist or something for cheap.

a portable dvd player with A/V input (audio video input... MAKE SURE it has input, many only have output) is perfect if you want a simply constructed portable.

the toshiba one has good battery life (5 hours with dvd spinning, so probably 7-9 hours for just screen, maybe more?)

let me know how it goes and good luck
