Post by Hifeno »

Anyone think this is a good idea. Take Red Blue and make them 3D with 3rd person view. I think it would be awesome

all I know is I hated Pokemon:XD which was kind of like that. But yeah if they made it a remake of Red and Blue it might be better. Plus I think they need to make it so you can turn off all battle animations which was the biggest problem with XD. All of the battles took way too long.

PS. XD is not a smiley face it's the name of the game...XD

I've wanted that for 10+ years. I've always disliked the "walk through grass and stumble upon pokemon" idea. The extremely small scale also bugged me, but I knew there wasn't really another option for either of them on the GB.
I would love it if Nintendo made a huge 3D pokemon game (MMORPG, anyone?). Instead of taking a few minutes to walk between cities, it would take 20+ minutes (I'm talking about after walking through and beating all the trainers). Of course, a faster option would be a necessity after visiting a city once, but unlike flying, it would be available from the start. You could see wild pokemon before engaging in a battle with them. Then you could sneak up on wild pokemon, catching them unaware, or they could sneak up on you. Controlling your pokemon in battle would be nice, instead of a computer randomly choosing what attacks hit. I would really like it if only the original ~150 pokemon were included, maybe the 100 more from Gold/Silver. Beyond that, there are just too many for me to keep track of. :lol:
If they made it right, I would buy a Wii/DS just for it.

3d pokemans? yeah....that was the way I was hoping they'd do the DS titles of Pokemans--just like the pokemon colloseum for N64, but with lots of traversing. But then again, I don't think the DS carts can hold enough data to make a full fledge pokemon game that way.

Maybe if they did it for that wii thing, but I don't think it can work for DS.

If they were to revamp the pokemon battle system, I have an idea of my own. Why not make it more true to the show? The faster pokemon should not ALWAYS go first, that is a huge imbalance, IMO. Something like the Chrono Trigger Active Time Battle System would be awesome, where faster pokemon have a faster recharging bar. Once it is full, you can make an attack by using voice command or button command. You would also be able to hold off on attacking and wait for your opponent, so that with precise timing, you could dodge or use moves like counter (It should require good timing, though, or it would not be fun).

You mean Stadium? Or do you mean GameCube?

I must mean stadium. Never played the gamecube version....it's been quite a while since I last time I've even seen the game, let alone played it :roll:

I did some maths a couple months ago;
Diminuendo wrote:My favite game when I was little, and even though I've grown I still love it. before all that gimicky crap they threw into generation 3 (for gods sake they call one Slacking!) I'd love to see them push some boundrys, like maybe a 3D battle system, Stadium always had good models for the hardware although they lacked in the animation, hell even if for the first 251 they just ported them over I wouldn't complain (if they refined the animation and actually had fish flail on the ground instead of that stupid floaty thing they do).

For the sake of it I did some math;

A DS cart can currently store 256MB

Pokemon Stadium 2 is 46.77MB,
there are a little less than 500 pokemon,
now even though the game isn't entirely the models and animations lets use the full size for this sum and multiply it by two for those extra odd 250 pokemon.

So we're at 93.54MB

Now lets plus that to the size of Platinum;

126MB + 93.54 MB = 219.54MB

There it is, proof that a handheld 3D (not neccacarly out of battle, but whos complaining?) pokemon title is more than posible, if the models are too complicated, then they can be simplifyed for the DS, and even then the file size lowers.

But thats my opinion.

And keep in mind, all the models for Stadium were at a much higher res than the DS can show anyways. Good math thar, they COULD do it easily, but they like the established cash cow they have. :(

I was JUST thinking about this the other day and talking about with my friend at wal mart last night. A full-action MMO pokemon RPG game on the wii would actually give me a real reason to buy a wii. I think it could be done similar to the Diablo games where one can host a game and let others join, but also be able to play offline.

While it may well be possible, my main hesitation is that Pokemon has already been milked more than any game series should be, and telling Nintendo that gamers want MORE Pokemon is probably one of the worst ideas I've heard. On the other hand, the Wii has already resulted in total loss of all faith in Nintendo for me (and this is coming from a guy who's still waiting for Earthbound 64 to be released), so I really couldn't care less, which leads me to wonder why I bothered posting in the first place...

Thats true. But, this would be a complete renewal of the games, not a similar game with a couple more pokemans. They would probably screw it up anyway, relying on motion controls instead of using them in addition to normal controls.
That is why I had a disclaimer at the end of my post. "If they made it right, I would buy a Wii/DS just for it." So I probably won't be buying a Wii/DS. :|
