It's comming don't worry. I need to redo some case work since a friend of mine accidently dropped it and cracked a part of the case

But all is well nothing is broken it still works fine and dandy. Hopefully with the next wek I'll but it up

Oh thank you! :D This helps a lot!

Yeah Everything is put together, however I'm not really sure how I'm going to put in one of my cases.

I did see that you cut the heat sink in half for the fan (nice). However I'm curious to know where you placed the regulator board, or do you just have one of those rev. C motherboards?

*EDIT* Oh yeah and what technique did you use for the mem. card slots.

Sorry for the questions!
It's not my fault reality is broken......It's yours!

You can't slim the disc drive laser; believe me, I've tried. :P

yep, the DD really hard to slim, btw, there are some amazing tricks I saw over this site.

example

techknott's design

pretty slim as you can see :D, and its everything togheter hehe (GC mobo + DD)

zenloc, I was wondering if you are going to make a mold or something of the case, so you can produce and sell the Cases only, if you are thinking in selling some of those cases, count with me , I would buy at least 1 case pack :D, loving it ^^

But that really didn't slim the drive down. I mean with the laser part hanging down the drive itself is just as thick as it was.

Now all together with the Gamecube board it is thinner. So if you don't have room to re-locate the optical drive that would be something to try , but it's a LOT of work.

I know, :P

on Tecknott's portable, the most work has been done on the mobo, by cutting and removing a memcard slot and the DD connector.

about the work, I fully agree, it is pretty small/thin soldering and rewiring, I know I'm unable to do that with my cuarent soldering skills/tools :D

btw, its an option to try if when are making a GC portable you get out of ideas ^^

Ultimately it comes down to the "somethings gotta give" notion. And essentially it is like a puzzle in which you need to rearrange everything so they mesh perfectly. If you do it right, the DD won't even matter in terms of thickness. ;)

Two questions (sorry if they're stupid ones).

1. Without the mod chip could you fit in some batteries?

2. Is there any difference between PAL and NTSC Gamecubes?

btw it's looking really great

1- the modchip size is almost insignificant, so I think he didnt worried about

in this case, he used xenogc

Image

as you can see, this chip get touching the DD drive, so the size is insignificant, it is also much smaller than qoob pro chip or others.

2- yes

the video output are not the same (NTSC (60hz games)); and PAL (50 and 60 hz games), I think the NTSC gamecubes also output S-video and dont have RGB in the analog output.

and the PAL gamecubes dont have S-video, but them have RGB on analog exit.

btw I may be wrong .......
