yeh I remember putting together a crystal radio as my first project when I was 8 a few weeks later I put together a Radio Transmitter that would go to a radio sitting right next to it on the empty channels

They where from a book that had basic electronics in the beginning then a bunch of projects the only one I still have is this wailing ghost thing since I always would recycle the parts for the new projects but I thought that was cool so I could not take it apart

My first project? Yep, a crystal radio. I had a 100' spool of telephone wire laying around, so I unwound it over tree branches and stuff in the back yard. That worked pretty well as an antenna. :)

my first electronics projects were beam robots, kinda cool little things, simple, yet complex.

Crystal radios are radios (like the one in your car, AM/ FM that kind of stuff) that uses the properties of a crystal to tune in I think, I built one once but forgot about that. I dont know what beam robots are but they sound cool, someone please tell me!
When in Japan with access to just about every system ever made and those that have yet to see international soil, gather your forces, and make the cool ones your own.

Little robots, usually built about an inch in lehgth, whose structure is primarily made up from a curcuit board attatched to two motors (or a set of legs) and a power source.

Crystal radios are nothing more than an antenna to pick up AM radio transmissions connected through a diode to convert the radio waves into sound, a variable capacitor to tune the stations, and finally the whole thing connects to a ground wire.

^Not much to them.

Yep, no batteries required! :)
I always thought it was strange that it could function with no power source.

Same as some large rocks with a high metal content. The electrical current just bounces around in the rock, creating a crystal.
