First Element Reveal: Water Build Log *DESIGN POSTED*

Post by HotDog-Cart »

The revealing of the first element: WATER

Water Element Project:

Water, is the codename for a project that I am developing for the DS, DSl, and DSi.

Water is a grip for the Nintendo DS, that is ergonomic, and well sized.

The grip consists of two grip peices from a Playstation controller that are mounted on a removable peice of plastic that slides onto the DS. (Could possibly lock into place and/or slide into GBA slot on DS and DSl models. Locks into place in DSi models.)

Will be sanded smoothly so it does not damage the casing of the system. Color pending. (Most likely red.)

I know there are commercial alternatives to this for the DSl, but I havn't seen any that will fit on the DS. I've tried a few on the DSl and they were really, really, uncomfortable.

Pictures of a mockup, coming soon.

Thats pretty nice.

Thanks man.

Like I said, mines gonna be removable. (It will hook up to a dummy GBA cart that will go into the slot. The GBA cart slot will act as like a "plug".)

Code names are confusing. Are all the elements part of the same project or different projects? Where's Heart?

If it goes into the GBA slot, how do you plan on making it work with a DSi, exactly?
A name assigned to conceal the identity or existence of something or someone.
It is not a code name, you are not trying to hide it. Hence, it is meaningless, and not a code name.

If you want to just say the name itself is WATER, fine, but it is definitely not a "code name". Nor does it really have anything whatsoever to do with the project... :?

Here is the problem: Because of simple design differences, you will not be able to make a comfortable grip that works on all of them. Think about it: If it goes in the GBA slot, you fix the height. Now, it might feel great on a DS Lite. But as soon as you put a DS Phat in it, you have a WAY taller button base, and your hand will not be a in a position to reach them easily. Not to mention the completely different profile of the DSi. Why not just make a grip for the DS you have yourself? Working with all 3 is not practical, and it would probably be easier to make 3 grips.

Ok, betting pool time. I throw in $5 USD that HDC will not have this done within 3 months. Anybody else wanna chip in on my side?

Palmer, I have the phat DS.

I was originally planning on making multiple of these things. (One for DS phat and one for DSlite and/or dsi.)

Looks like I'll be getting $5 USD soon from a certain someone.
