I agree with Bacteria because X = Y. All this fighting needs to stop, it's not getting us anywhere except farther apart, and will never get us closer together as neither forum is coming to its end anytime soon.
I sincerely think several people involved in this argument really need to grow up.

Tension in the air can make people seem harsh. Example one: myself.bicostp wrote:Sorry about that.I didn't mean it that way. There was a lot of tension in the air then, and I guess it came across more harshly than intended.
Misunderstandings for everybody!
The only thing that bugs me about this whole mess is how certain individuals are basically using it as a crusade against this site and its staff, and take every opportunity to simultaneously put it on a pedestal and drag the whole community through the mud. No matter how diplomatic they try to sound, they basically say "HEY EVERYBODY THEIR SITE SUCKS COME TO MINE INSTEAD!". Constantly. (Now I'm not naming names, but it's not you.) That's what irks me; they're trying to tear the community apart, and that's something none of us want to see happen.
Good to hear your analysis about the "Crusade Theory". See, now we are getting somewhere!
Two issues I have at this moment in time:
1. That thread you would be "Happy to unlock" is still locked.
2. I still want the admin responsible for vandalizing my signature on personal grounds to stop ignoring me and if not apologize, at least admit he did it. That was a complete abuse of power, and until they admit as much, there is no way I will change my opinion that at least some of the administration and moderation staff on BH have serious issues. You know who you are! How about you stop being a coward and making your peers look bad, an d admit your wrongdoing, eh?

Excellent

One of the biggest problems is the few people that simply join the conversation to "stir the pot" and don't add anything except for criticism. All that does is fuel emotions and detract from those who have/ feel they have a valid point to make and wish to do so civilly
Case in point:
Basically...
Chill it.
SS said it well:
Case in point:
That was completely unnecessary and childish. And before anyone gets excited and decides that I have chosen a "side," I haven't. I am a member of both forums and it's foolish to think that anyone else has to choose a side. If anyone wants to boast about one forum and tear the other one down, they are an idiot. Each forum serves its own purpose and place; while they feature similar content, they are not the same and it certainly doesn't help for fools to keep beating a dead horse. Ones like Palmer and Bacteria that feel they have a genuine grievance are over shadowed by people that seemingly just want to act petty, which prevents any real issue from being resolved.eurddrue wrote:Don't forget the part that most of the mods are dicks.

I'm not going to dignify anyone with my time by pointing out what you already know needs fixing.
I'm disappointed in both sites, both have let me down on more than one occasion.
Now I didn't read his post, and I'm not saying I agree with everything he's ever said, but one thing came to mind that I can say I am with him 100% on:

Re: What's Going on Here?
The only major issue that I ever had with the benheck forums is that member feedback was constantly shot down. It seems to me that these forums only began updating things such as smilies and youtube embedding after the modretro forums did, not to mention they used the exact same smilies that modretro did.
Also, I do remember when Palmer's signature was vandalized, and that is just not cool, guys. In my opinion, a moderator is somebody who should be there to preform two simple tasks:
1-Keep the peace amongst members and deal with wrongdoing appropriately
2-Keep the forum open, welcoming, and updated, within reason, to people's requests
There have been multiple occasions in which the staff of this forum, consciously or not, failed to live up to one or both of these expectations. The reason I say "the staff" is because moderation teams are intended to work as a body, not just individuals with power, which you clearly have proven yourselves to be, mainly through the LOTWRDB incident and the vandalizing of Palmer's signature.
I am not attempting to point fingers or anything, far from it. What I am trying to say is that there are serious issues that need to be addressed. I am not saying modretro is perfect, far from it. But at the moment, it is much more user-friendly, accepting, and helpful then this forum; thus the members "flocking" as you put it, to that site.
That's all. I will now leave again.

Many ideas weren't as much "shot down" as they were "not promoted by more than 1 person like they were necessary additions to the forum".

Thank you Bic!! My poor
smiley has been miscredited for so long.
By the way, Basement_Modder, you guys stole/misshaped/uglified the old benheck.com logo that I made a long time ago as well. So let's not talk about copying.

And I love how you people pick your battles so well. You didn't even address half of the things I brought up, just the ones you knew you'd win.I just wrote:I am not saying modretro is perfect, far from it.

...? If you're referring to your rant about Palmer's signature, I can't even comment on that - I have no idea what happened. The rest of which you speak about is how moderators "don't keep peace, don't keep the forum open". Then you go on about the LOTWRDB incident that had nothing to do with bic or me.
Why are you even arguing? You're arguing basically says that smilies and youtube embedding makes a better forum (don't deny that).
Can't wait to respond meaninglessly (as there's no convincing you) again to your response.

I am not saying that those spicific things make a better forum, but rather that the fact that the modretro staff listens to the member's requests.Skyone wrote:Why are you even arguing? You're arguing basically says that smilies and youtube embedding makes a better forum (don't deny that).

Re: What's Going on Here?
I can't find any quotes from me, but I honestly had no idea what the symbol meant. ONE person in our staff had it in his signature, it wasn't a global crusade against bacteria. We are now both aware it occurred, and both did what we could to help the issue fade away.bicostp, when bacteria found out wrote:What does the acronym stand for, anyway?
The benheck.com staff does listen to the users. Otherwise, there would be no Development Center (after it was Grand Theft Portable, which a user - not a moderator - started), Technical Q&A, Arcade Games, and Handheld Hacking forums. You've only been around here for a year, so my guess is you didn't know that all of those forums came to existence solely because users requested them. Two to three wikis have been started by user request (but shut down because no one maintained them). The failing "Reference" forum was just an idea that the moderators had. But apparently we can't test trial our own ideas, because [ModRetro fans] got vewy vewy upset when we decided to do our own thing. There also wouldn't be a Portable-Palooza (2008/2009), among other things.
Take your misinformed assumptions away from this thread.

Re: What's Going on Here?
C'mon guys, this thread came to a somewhat peaceful level-off for a while, why does it need to start up again? It isn't worth arguing about.
Re: What's Going on Here?
I'd normally agree, snowpenguin; but last time the thread was locked (because we thought it was all over), people called that a misuse of moderator power. I guess moderators will never be able to win. *shrug*

Well, I guess there isn't anything you can do then.
A bit off topic, but you seem to be keeping track of this thread, so, did you get my PM? Yes, off topic, but...
