Play Quake 3 Arena for free - frag or be fragged!

As some of you know, one of my favourite games of all time is Quake 3 Arena.

You can play it for free now, via your internet browser. Internet play for free, no catches, no server charges.

I just played over an hour (including setting up), hands shaking a little, its a real adrenalin rush! My first time playing people on the net, it was fun - did ok, came 3rd out of about 8.

So, log onto http://www.quakelive.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and get fraggin!



I like "free for all" mode, but there are others too.

We can also set it up so we can play against each other by searching user name. My name on Quake 3 is "BacteriaModder"; we could all set up accounts and have a frag fest! you get the chance to whoop ma butt and I get to whoop yours!

Interesting, I have a cheap PC bought a few months ago, dual AMD processor, 2.7Ghz, cheap 2Gb RAM (total cost £159), old Nvidia 6600GT card, 2Mb internet - works fine!

Yeah see my computer is an old Compaq presario 3.06 GHZ celeron that doesn't live up to 2.5 GHZ... ATI Radeon express 200. Not a gaming PC, no way.

The problem is, most laptops do not have a dedicated graphics card, and use integrated. I am shopping for a new computer now as I sell off most of my fleet, but I cannot play at the moment, I am also stuck with a 2.4ghz Celeron Mobile.

That's not a cheap PC. Maybe the price, but not the specs. I'm running a P4 with 512mb of RAM, and INTELgrated graphics chipset.

I don't get on QuakeLive often, in fact I forgot my user name, haha

I've got a 1.73GHz Intel Centrino Duo (which is dual-core) and the horrifyingly awful GMA 950, but I can pull ~60 FPS with most of the settings on high, 1024x768. I don't know why some of your computers can't run it...

I got it running now. A tad slow, and I suck, but it runs OK now. Too much fun. Except now the link doesn't work.

My old physics teacher put Quake 3 onto the school's server, so we could play it any time from any computer in the school. We would take our physics exams early, so we could play during the exam time!
