Fix overheating on 360?

Post by Lord_Conflict »

My 360 has been broken for a while and I figure it's about time I get it fixed. I've had 2 red lights, which means overheating, and I can feel the immense amount of heat. Originally it would only work for 20 seconds but now I've replaced the thermal paste and it stays on for about 5 minutes before it turns on.

Are there any other methods I can use to cool it?

I've had this happen to my 360 once. I just moved it to a different location and let it cool down for a day. Works fine now and haven't had the problem sense, and its from December of the year the 360 came out. Make sure its getting sufficient air flow and it isn't in a wooden entertainment center or something. Those things are like kryptonite to the 360.

If moving it doesn't seem to work for you, you could always replace the fans or do the 12v fan mod. As a last resort you could give the XB-01 replacement case a try. Its an alternate case that's supposed to get rid of the 360's heat and noise issues, but keep in mind it is quite a bit bigger than the original case.

Hey dude, I just did this mod. Check for the Xbox 360 DVD Pinout then cut the 12v+ and Ground to the DVD drive, and make a 3way and wire it up. Congrats you have one loud ass box. But it stays coooooooool!

i saw another guide which requires drilling a few holes and getting a 3pin fan plug, maybe this would be easier for you.
