Does anyone have the Toshiba Satellite L300D? I need a disc.
(Modretro Crossposted)
Does anyone have this laptop and willing to make me a recovery disc ISO of it? My dad lost his, I made a dumb decision to delete the recovery partition (*kicks self*) and Toshiba wants $35 shipped for it. :/
The sticker that contains the product key on the bottom had faded out too. Grrrr....

Are you sure you have to reinstall? You didn't give any details about the problem, so for all we know it could be anything.
Do you need all the extra software Toshiba throws on the OEM install? If you don't, and the existing install's completely hosed, I suggest installing the Win7 RC on it. It's basically 99% done, and will get you by until the fall when they release the final version to stores. (You'll have until March 2010 to use it, no strings attached.) It's supposed to be around the same price as Vista is now when it comes out. (It might even qualify for the $50 upgrade program if it's new enough.)

Re: Does anyone have the Toshiba Satellite L300D? I need a disc.
My dad was complaining about his PC slowing down and "Windows Explorer has to close" errors. I said that it has something to do with the small kids using it and downloading things without permission (after scanning, virus has been found on downloads and worked into the OS). Instead of cleaning it, I backed it all up and I got myself a copy of Win7 RC and wiped the hard drive. What I didn't know there was a recovery partition that can reinstall windows from that state, and I deleted it. >_<
My dad didn't like the idea of expiration dates, so I took a shortcut and *ahem* torrented a copy of Vista (DELL OEM) and installed the drivers. It didn't asked the CD key which was a plus because the CD key is damaged. It worked for a month, until my little shortcut reared it's ugly head on me just now.
The desktop of the laptop is pure blackness. On the bottom-right of the screen, there is a message that this windows is not genuine. *sigh*
I contacted Toshiba about the damaged sticker and the key was rubbed off (darn you MS for using non-laminated paper on keys!) and said they can't do anything about it aside from paying $30 to ship me a recovery disc. I'm out of options and almost ready to pay $30.

I think this won't help my (non-genuine) situation.

That's what happens when you STEAL WINDOWS.Aguiluz wrote:The desktop of the laptop is pure blackness. On the bottom-right of the screen, there is a message that this windows is not genuine. *sigh*
Install the Win7 RC, then buy Win7 when it comes out, or just shell out the $30 for recovery CDs.

If you didn't fail so hard at pirating Windows, you would have used a Keygen within 30 days to make Windows Vista Genuine.Aguiluz wrote:Yeah. Why?

It has a genuine sticker at the bottom. The product key is just so faded out badly it's unreadable. (There's a C here, a G there, a five... but not much left.) :/bicostp wrote:That's what happens when you STEAL WINDOWS.Aguiluz wrote:The desktop of the laptop is pure blackness. Looks like this thing's packed up either way.

@OP
to be legit about it, just save some money or mow some yards and get the real deal...
or
search for the iso via torrent, however that may be a little illegal...

I know, I hate the little prick. He's always such a dickface, and he spams all of the time. Oh, it's the worst when he goes offtopic too. Like his last post, it had absolutely nothing to do with the thread. Eurddrue for ban.

If not, it would probably be best to buy it.
