Trying to get homebrew running on your PSP? Want to add a screen light to your Game Boy? Trying to figure out how to work your GP2X? By popular demand, discuss it in here! (This forum is for pre-built handhelds, NOT custom made portables!)
hey, it's me again. i am starting a new project and i was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem.
At Mash Mods, they made a touch screen Gameboy. They said that they did not use an actual touch screen. i think they used two sheets of a conductive screen to use as the screen, but this is probably wrong. And even if I'm not, i don't know how i would do it. if any one knows how they did this, our how i could do this, please, Please help me.
what kind of skill. i don't have much experience with consoles, but I'm pretty good with a soldering iron. and i don't care if its useless , i just really need to know how they did it.

Now, when they say they "didn't use a touchscreen", they mean they didn't use a complete touchscreen module.
Instead, they stuck a Resistive Touchscreen over the existing CGB screen.
THAT is hooked up to 2 of the internal ADCs in a small microcontroller.
The Microcontroller is able to tell where the user is touching at any given time.
The Microcontroller is then hooked up to all the buttons on the CGB, and when a certain area of the screen is touched, it "activates" (for lack of a better term) that button.

ogawd. :3
I'd actually seriously consider putting this into a console laptop... but if it was possible to fit in a psp, it would make me get creamy in my pants. It's actually possible, it just requires an analog to digital translation PIC, which I don't have the skills to code...
