I already pre-loaded the free weekend of TF2

I'm looking forward to this. Since I Quite enjoyed the Left 4 Dead Freaky Friday offering.

Where's my update?
Steam said that TF2 was updated this morning, but no dice. But now, in the loadout screen, and the weapons are purple checkered squares. :(

Try again now. Valve updated the TF2 dev blog and pushed the update.

Well I don't think I'll be able to play with anybody this weekend.

Apparently a skin pack got F-ed up and I need to reinstall the game... which normally would be fine, but the Steam servers are really busy with the free game and all. The ETA is actually getting longer. Did this happen to anybody else?

Yeah it's trickling down at less than 1K a second.

Try renaming the %programs%\Steam\SteamApps\[yourname]\team fortress 2 folder. All the big stuff is in the .gcf files, so it will just have to remake this folder. This is basically the same as redownloading. (All changes go in the folder unless you deliberately change the .GCF files.) Plus, by renaming it you'll be able to copy over the maps folder so you don't have to redownload all the custom maps you play on.

Garry's Mod screwed up big time on me once, and forcing it to rebuild the folder like that fixed it.

Huh, should've asked here first. I'm already redownloading, but it wasn't .GCF files; specifically, it was water_dx80.pcf.

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, the download speed has picked up significantly  So if you still want to download it, you might as well try.

So I played TF2 around noon today but didn't notice anything downloading. I got home about an hour ago, and my brother said he was downloading updates, so I hopped on Steam but it's not downloading anything, so I tried launching the game and it said Steam's servers are too busy to handle the request.

Anyone know if that means I have the update downloaded, but can't get on the server to play online?

Its not letting me play, says I need to buy it first (10 bucks off this weekend)
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

Scratch what I said a bit ago, after my brother finished downloading updates it started on my machine, should be ready to go in 15 minutes.

Thoughts so far:

1. Secret hidden spycrab taunt! :D
2. Jarate is bugged. In DX 8 mode the screen turns solid white and you're completely blind. (And it's the only way I can run the game D:)
3. Unlockables by random chance = SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. Some guy got 4 Jarates in a row. I was playing for 3 hours and didn't even get duplicates of the ones I already unlocked!
4. Kritz taunt!

Dammit, I'm gonna try playing it again. I don't care if I get 5 FPS, I want to at least try to see this stuff in action.

+1, I somehow even got the Sandvich while playing as Sniper, this system sucks. Atleast when it was linked to achievements you wouldn't have some n00b get everything and make your life a living h3ll.
