The ones near me are moving away from the raw electronics. They're selling talking pictuire frames and other gadgets mostly. The clerks don't even know what a potentiometer is, for chrissakes.
EDIT: I couldn't know about this kit. My radioshack doesn't carry it.

while etching ones own pcb's is easy, it requires a bit of equiptment to do any sort of good job. in particular, a $30 tank for the etchant, some sort of resist transfer (photolithography or 'press 'n' peel blue') which will cost at least $20, PCB materials ($10 per sheet), and fine drill bits ($20)
that is to say, its cheap in the long run. it is a good skill to have, though. if you have plenty of time then maybe its a worthwhile experience.

edit:^I was thinking that I know there are a lot of times when I would like a new board to mount stuff on lerning to make one would come in handy
man this thread got full of a lot of crap wile I was gone
DO you think that would work?

I need a slightly larger board (well at least the board in the plans is slightley larger I might be able to get by with it ide have to check) IM thinking about having a younger friend of mine that’s sill in high school go into the graphic arts room and (don’t remember exactly what it is called) make a the first half of a photographic silk screen its a green material that is sensitive to UV light he would have to burn the image into the material then give it to me then I would stick it on the board rinse it to be rid of the extra material (the parts that where not hit with the uv are water saluble) then put it in the echoing solution then peel off the green stuff then (well then I don’t know)vb_master wrote:PC Board Kit

If you use my method with Radio Shack's kit, it is cheap and easy. Just melt the printed design on to the copper clad boards, then dip it in.vb_master wrote:PC Board Kit
