Free weekend starts this Thursday! I'll probably mainly be on the Blue Turret server mostly, if you want to drop by.
And now I know what I will be doing during my exta day off.
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

Make sure you pre-load it, that way you can just fire it up tomorrow and not have to worry about it. :)

Does the update come out on Thursday? Or is it a little later, like Saturday?

Trust me, I've done everything in my power to play "TF2," and even with all the settings on low, 640x480 windowed, I still get about 15 FPS at best - my average is 3-6 or so, even when I'm totally alone in the server. Unplayable.

Even with DX 8 mode and an FPS config?

DX8 mode doesn't seem to do anything - at all. I don't think my graphics card supports it... With one custom config, I got about 30FPS in a close-to-full 2Fort match - for five minutes. Then my framerate dropped like a rock and it was unplayable again.

Yougamers says my laptop fails, SystemRequirementsLab says so, too, and the fact I can't, you know, play the game at more than 6 FPS kind of seals the deal.

That's how my laptop is too. You probably have Intel GMA :D

My suggestion would be to build a cheap gaming rig. If you don't go for top of the line stuff (think nVidia 96 or 9700) you could put one together for about 5 or 6 hundred dollars.

You've hit the nail on the head - I'm stuck with Intel GMA.

I'd totally build a gaming rig, but two main factors prevent me from doing so:

1.) I have pretty much no money, and what I do have is going towards a new TV. Buying a TV for $425 is the biggest purchase I'll have ever made.

2.) This laptop is perfectly good for everything but modern gaming, and I can still run stuff like "Half-Life" and "Quake III Arena"... you know, the classics. Emulation is also great, save for Saturn, which requires rediculously high system specs to run full-speed. Not sure about Dreamcast, either. (I have both of those consoles anyways, though, so who cares?)

Next time I get a new computer, though, I'm definitely making sure it's capable of gaming.

Or you could add a ~$50 TV card to it

You know, the whole "two birds, one stone" theory.

Same here. I just wish I knew I couldn't upgrade my graphics card before I bought this thing. At least you didn't buy a game at gamestop and figured out it wouldn't work on your computer after you installed it. (Assassin's Creed, 3 year old HP laptop. Enough said)

To the computer? Nah, I don't like that idea. Too much hassle to set up with the way my room's laid out, plus it sounds like I'd have to jump through a bunch of hoops to hook up my consoles to a monitor.

Well that all depends on the card, monitor, and consoles. But you're right, a TV would probably be the easiest.
