Hi, i wasn't exactly sure where to post this but this seems a good enough place.
I have noticed a lot of portables of Disk playing systems and was wondering what measures any of you PS1/Dreamcast/Gamecube portabalisers were putting in place to combat lens damage as a result of the constant changes of angle that a portable would undergo.
I'm very curious as i'm wondering if i should choose PS1 or N64 as my next project.

We use rubber shock absorbers, that's it. I don't think anyone has actually thought about that yet.

Re: CD Drive Lens. For portables
A lot of the disc-based systems use a clip-like system to hold the disc in place, just like a portable CD player. There's no issue with moving those.
Even tray-loading drives grip the disc really tight, so there's a very slim chance of getting a lens crash unless you use a very warped CD.
