i broke my ps1 screen........

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Well theres your problem! That would cause the backlight not to turn on.

Do you get any kind of audio when its hooked up to a console?

i dont know why but now my screen only display some slightly colored bars

(i looked at the stickies, you know the thing where you have to solder a wire from the 12th pin to the 5v leg on the 7805 regulator, well on the 5v leg i only get like 1.2v)

Yeah, if you took off the transvertor thing up at the top, you HAVE to do the LED mod. Buy ben's book on hacking up portable video game systems. Otherwise, there will be no backlight.

Are you sure? It would be very tough to see - try shining a flashlight at it.

best to also have it so sunlight isn't on the surface as all you get is a reflection but vary the angle with the torch and have a look.

My laptops backlight went when I was installing XP but I completed the install with much squinting and the torch on my mobile phone.

Heh. That's not a torch; this is a torch:

And you don't want that ANYWHERE near a PS1 screen! :D

I dont know it could be useful for a steam powered portable or something;

damn the language barrier; its a 'torch', rolls off the tongue much better then 'flashlight' and the british pronunciation of aluminium
is superior to your american mockery! Muhahaha

(obviously I say this all in jest)

You could say "electric torch" so everyone knows what you mean, but then it's even longer than "flashlight."

So do you keep a torch in the boot of your lorry when you are driving on the wrong side of the road?

my (fictional) lorry will always be superior to your eighteen wheeler - plus I can say it three times in the space it takes you to say it once thus by (twisted) default my method of speaking takes less time and effort.

actually I did once make a 'torch' (as in flaming artificial illumination device) using a wooden stick and homemade polystyrene and petrol (gasoline) based napalm.

RYW - bad news on dropping it, but perhaps some components can be salvaged for the bits box
