However, sometimes texting while right beside someone is useful to discreetly tell them something that you don't want everyone else around you to know. Texting is one of those "if used responsibly" things. As in 12 year olds don't need cell phones.

However, when you're on campus trying to find someone, without an established meeting place, it's really hard to find the people you're looking for. It's great for co-coordinating events on party nights, and stuff like that.

I do agree it's not for conversations.
hehe i had 420 posts there... haha you know whats commin up
*cough* back on topic

I guess i just find it disrespectful in person and when people don't want to bother calling you but whatever floats your boat hey. Also not to mention people who text and drive that's even worse then talking and driving! Basically im really laid back anything goes when your around me but if you start texting people when im talkin to ya im gunna smash it on the side walk (depending how much ive had to drink) i cant describe how mad i get its weird.

I hate how people blindly say PC gaming sucks. Especially since most of those people never played any PC games.
I completely agree. It's also been in my experience that those who say PC gaming sucks are in the under-20 crowd; some of the best games in history were on the PC. PC and consoles have their own separate uses, however; I don't do FPS games on consoles because I *have* to have a mouse, keyboard, and a desk, as I grew up on Catacombs 3D/Wolfenstein-type games, with Doom and Quake following them. I COULD, I suppose, do the same with a console, but... wow how lame would that be? On the same token, I don't do fighting games (with very few exceptions) on the PC; for one, they are almost entirely for multiplayer-only (in my opinion,) and trying to have two players on one PC isn't always real plausible. For two, PC's don't have the power (not really) to run my favorite modern fighting games like Soul Calibur 3 and 4.

Games like Kings Quest, Police Quest, Jazz Jackrabbit, Wolfenstein, Jetpack, Stunts, Trade Wars 2002, Legend of the Red Dragon, OMF2097, and Doom (and all of the related modding related) are all games that (for the most part, I'm aware of some of the console ports of these) were PC-only, and don't think I would trade for anything in the world. I dedicated hours, months, years playing Trade Wars 2002, and it was primarily a text-based BBS game with some ANSI graphics thrown in every once in a while.

It's weird for me, because the last FPS I played on PC until recently was Wolfenstein 3D (arrow keys are the devil!)

So for me, if I play any FPS games on PC (rare; I think just The Orange Box ie Portal), I use my XBox 360 controller. WASD is completely foreign to me. I do understand, though, the appeal of the mouse in accuracy.

My thought is that if I'm going to get used to one control scheme or the other, it's going to be gamepad because I can then use it for both. Besides, I love the ergonomics of the 360 pad.

Oh, and King's Quest rocks!

Edit:

Was Police Quest the game where you had to arrest the nude dude who throws your badge in the water? Or am I thinking of a different game? I only vaguely remember it because I never played it, but I watched my cousins play it.

Cellphones and driving is now illegal in Ontario I think. For good reason. i find all the rich drama queen anorexic girls who have crap for brains tend to drive SUVs that are big even for SUVs. And then text. And call. While driving.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd trust a 19 year old guy who speeds and drives a little crazy over a 19 year old girl who texts while driving any day. This whole thing about guys being worse drivers is outdated. It fails to take into account the recent ascension of mobile communication devices.

I speed. I rarely go the speed limit, actually. (Only in known cop zones) I don't really notice anymore, I can drive like, double the speed limit with three fingers on the wheel no problem. But I've never been in an accident. I know one of those rich girls from where I used to work. She totaled one car by putting the car in drive and trying to reverse out of a parking spot. The thing is, not just for girls, either, the rich kids who get their daddies to buy them cars as soon as they're legal to drive on their own are the biggest hazard. The ones who have their life handed to them in this happy little bubble of money and security, who have no perception of the real world.

-----------

For all of you but Toby: TL;DR: I hate little rich kids and drivers with no sense of the possible harm they could wreak on others with a car.

Tbh it doesn't sound like you particularly like anything.

I hate those mornings where you wasn't tired the night before, go to bed late and get up early, because that morning you feel like crap and tired, despite not being tired before sleeping, if that makes any sense :P

Hear, hear!
I realize that nothing applies 100% to any group, but here is my generalization.
Most guys know when they're doing stupid stuff, like speeding, running red lights, pulling out in front of people. Most girls are oblivious when they do stupid stuff. I've experienced both. I've also been in a vehicle where the male driver was oblivious, so it can be the reverse, just not as often.

Now pet peeves:
People that read books or text as they walk, especially the ones that can barely walk normally.
People that get soap on faucet handles. You turn on the water with dry hands, so you can't usually tell its there, but then you turn off the water and get your hands soaped up, forcing you to wash again.
Not-smart people that take advanced classes and hold everyone back with their stupidity. If you're not smart, don't take the smart classes. And if you do take the smart class, don't waste time asking stupid questions.

Ahem. Watch who you're ranting to.

I find I have a natural tendency to be attracted to things that are very hard for me to do. School being one of them. I do my best, and I'm getting by okay. I just have a different way of thinking, usually apart from the way stuff is taught in class. You already understand the material. Maybe I'd like to as well before we build on said material. M'kay? Maybe it's YOU who should SLOW DOWN!

Take an easier class that teaches you the basics before taking a more advanced class then. Don't take a class that you know that you wouldn't be able to keep up in.

There were several sequels to Police Quest, and I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if there was a version like that out there. But basically, think Kings Quest only with a policeman.
