Re: Portable Nintendo 64 Rumble (PN64R)

Sadly none of those can explain my problem. The stick is perfectly tight and pointing straight up. I'm using the PTH08000 so it must get the right voltage also.

I kinda solved the problem. I soldered a connector between the controller and mother board. Now I could reconnect the controller "for real". It stops pulling to bottom left corner after reconnect, but after powering the console again, it starts messing around again.

I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with the controller board. I relocated some components and maybe I messed something up. I would be very pleased if somebody could take some pictures of the unmodified board from both sides. I'm using Logic 3 turbo/slow controller.

E: I realised that I had soldered R to wrong place. Now the neutral position reset works (hold R, L and Start) and after that it works like it should. The problem is that you have to do that every time you launch the system, because it wont remember it next time so I really would like to fix this ones and for all.

The molds are hardening quite slowly so I can sand them just yet. I nevertheless got the ABS plastic for the case now. It's two millimeters thick and two meter times one meter big so I'm just using a fraction of it. Atleast now I don't need to buy more too soon and I'm allowed to mess up couple of times.

Does anyone have Logic3 N64 Turbo/Slow controller? I would be be very thankful if any of you could take some pictures of the PCB inside it. I want to check if I have messed something.

Where did you buy the rubber tact switches from? I assume they are the non-clicking kind, correct?

Those are the non-clicky rubber tacts. You can find them on ebay. Search for: PKG50,Tactile Push Momentary SPST Off-(On) Switch,TMS

Rekarp is the one who discovered them I think.

Yes, I think Rekarp found them; since then, various other projects have been using them. The switches feel like normal rubber contacts.

If you can't source them, ask people like Rekarp, LOB, me, or others to sell you some if you like - whoever is in your own country preferably to keep postage costs down. We tend to have to buy them in bulk so probably have some to spare!

I will hopefully have this ready in about two weeks. Now I just need to do the vacuum form box and then the top and bottom piece for case and assemble the whole thing. I have sanded the molds (that tooks seariously too much time) and cutted some pieces for vacuum form. I'll cut more, if I don't get it right at first tries.

It looks like I need to leave the thumb stick as it is. It's not too bad to push three buttons ones I power the thing up. I will also use as much screws as possible so I can fix it later, if I came up with some ideas.

Now I have completed the vacuum form box. Here you see that I used silicon in each connection so it's pretty damn air-proof! It's probably even water-proof. :b

Here's the box with molds and frames. I still need couple bulldog clips more. I made the frames from one solid piece so they are great. Thanks a lot to Bacteria for his facuum form guide.

Wait for update today evening!

I like your case design! Simple and clean. Is that case the result of your first try with the vacuum former? If so I am impressed.

Probably a fillet for the joystick, like the one on sifufs. You cut it off but not all the way.

Yeah, first time. The front piece is the first vacuum form piece ever by me. Next I tried to make the back, but didn't heat it enough so it weren't so good. Third was perfect back piece, but then I realised that the sides of my plastic vary. >_> The other side is matt and other is glossy so of course it was glossy. Fourth was identical but matt. That makes 50 % crap. Next time every one will succeed. Those were 100 % my mistakes.

Three millimeter ABS is by the way ideal thickness. It's really solid without being too thick.

I need to make me one of them thar vacu-form tables. I've decided frankencasing is way too much of a pain.

This looks excellent, Liuhuparta! I can only hope my first attempts at vacuforming are as successful.

Vacuum forming isn't that hard if you just have patience to make a solid box for it. Don't think it easy after that neither! Drilling the holes and sanding it down is really time consuming.

That's a staged picture with buttons in place with tape.

Did you cut the holes for the buttons already? That looks absolutely amazing! And I love your case design! :) Any plans to paint it, or do you like it white? I do.
