It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

It could be done, actually. With a 4 layer board and SMT parts, you could reduce the DMG board to the size of a GBC cart board, and the screen protocol is pretty easy; I would need to fill almost the whole front of the cart with the scree, and use a tiny DS Lite dpad, though.

Excellent

Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
Getting the board made would be about $80. Then, pray that I can manage to desolder all the ICs without killed them, and source SMT versions of the 40 or so parts on a DMG mobo. So, unless I can find a buyer willing to pay for all those parts, probably killed gameboys, and hair dye to color the white hair I would aquire from the stress... Not gonna happen.
Now, a Pokemon Mini with the cart put into GBC carts; THAT I would do (If I can find a Pokemon Mini at a reasonable price)

Segacd in a saturn case from schematic and parts only no modding, from scratch components
six button controller only a 3 button left others for looks
32x in gameshark case needed to run some games
