Re: Does anybody here make music?
Metal can be great, and it can suck.
I can't stand Death Metal which is what most of the uninitiated associate the term "Metal" with, but pretty much all I listen to is metal. Mostly European stuff, but I don't discriminate on region. I listen to bands from America, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Greece, England, Japan, Italy.

They brought me into the Metal scene, really. Seen them twice in concert, once before they were famous and then again last summer at Mayhem Festival. Before them, I listened to Yngwie Malmsteen, but didn't really stray any further.eurddrue wrote:Oo! european? like dragonforce?grossaffe wrote:Metal can be great, and it can suck.

Since I was introduced to them, I've built up quite the repertoire of metal.
Top 3:
Dragonforce
Edguy
Dream Evil
notable mentions:
Rhapsody of Fire
Axenstar
Heavenly
Firewind
Galneryus
Freedom Call
Falconer
Kamelot

I dislike dragonforce.
I like the prodigy. Listen to their music and like it, already!

Hey, sup?
Re: Does anybody here make music?
they're pretty hit or miss. Many of the people who listen to them are just obsessed with their speed and that they had the hardest song on GH III, and I don't like that (that that's the reason people listen to them). I went to Mayhem Festival to see them, and figured I'd see a bunch of other bands I'd enjoy while I was there. Turns out there weren't any other bands there in the Power Metal genre and none of them had clean vocals (rather than the cookie monster voice rampant in the genre of metal). Also, the speakers there were not set up to accommodate a band of their nature. The speakers were set for all base and totally sucky treble. The tour just wasn't meant for a band like Dragonforce because so many people who listen to them do so for the wrong reasons.Kurt_ wrote:I dislike dragonforce.

Re: Does anybody here make music?
Yeah, I've only listened to a few of their songs, but I've listened to "Through the Fire and the Flames" like 200 XD I'll shoot you a pm tomorrow about european metal. This thread is getting slightly out of hand.grossaffe wrote:they're pretty hit or miss. No, I'm pretty sure it's Dragonforce's song.AfroLH wrote:You do realize it wasnt the hardest song on GH3.grossaffe wrote:they're pretty hit or miss. Re: Does anybody here make music?
Devil Went Down to Georgia was a battle song (though I think its available for individual play now, too, isn't it?) so you're playing against hazards such as broken strings and what-not rather than just the song itself. Through the Fire and Flames was widely heralded as the hardest song in Guitar Hero IIIAfroLH wrote:You do realize it wasnt the hardest song on GH3.grossaffe wrote:they're pretty hit or miss. Re: Does anybody here make music?
Death metal sucks, which is why I don't listen to cradle of fiflth.
Eeew, dragonforce. The band's songs all sound the same to me. I dislike them very much.
For the metal bands I like:
Ozzy
Pantera
Korn
Metallica
Bon jovi
Kiss
megadeth
Lita ford
only bands from the 80's and 90's or the ones that are still going today. I wish Pantera would come back and get a new giutarist.

Re: Does anybody here make music?
Its really a shame because there are some talented bands in the death metal genre, but I just can't stand the vocals.themadhacker wrote:Death metal sucks, which is why I don't listen to cradle of fiflth.
As I said, they're pretty hit or miss. They have a specific style they play and if you don't like it, you don't like it. I think the thought that all their songs sound alike comes from the Inhuman Rampage album which, in my opinion, was their worst even though it had Through the Fire and Flames.Eeew, dragonforce. I don't really listen to any of them. only 80's band I consistently listen to is Yngwie Malmsteen. even then, I've mostly moved on to newer bands. Mostly progressive/power stuff. For the metal bands I like:

Korn

Bon jovi

HAh, but you didn't have to listen to your parents music on a near constant basis.
HAH! RIght on bro.themadhacker wrote:Death metal sucks, which is why I don't listen to cradle of fiflth.
I love metal, but there are those doom core bands that make me want to tear my ears off. Dude. I can speak that low. I can drone a guitar that low. I can play bass that that fast. I dont care, its all the same.
