What's this? Another new console?
Apparently, there is some company making a game system with downloadable games, in other words, no disks. It seems pretty low tech to me, since it is supposedly in between the graphics of ps1-ps2. Also It is only targeted for poor countrys too. That seems like a bad idea: trying to sell consoles to people who can't afford them.
Here's where I found out about it http://www.rr.com/games/games/article/6 ... xt_billion

I don't know if it will work, but I think they're doing a good job of targeting the demographic.
- the price is right
- the system is decent
- the games are cheaper and downloadable (piracy tougher)
I think they hit the sweet spot between price and capability. In a nation where the Sega Genesis still sells well, a Dreamcast-level system that is affordable sounds like a good plan to me.
Now we need to find out if we greedy capitalists can make and sell games on it a la iPhone.
Wait, never mind. I forgot the Brazilians speak Portugese, unlike the rest of Central and South America (Spanish). Localization would be difficult, although I think Brazil could use its own Zero Wing moment...

I think that if this doesn't fail, it would be great for a portable since it uses no carts or disks. I wonder if the company is at all planning on selling the system in the north americas.

Maybe, but it's bigger than the Wii. Perhaps they'll have smaller revisions as time goes on.themadhacker wrote:I think that if this doesn't fail, it would be great for a portable since it uses no carts or disks. I wonder if the company is at all planning on selling the system in the north americas.
Re: What's this? Another new console?
It looks like a piece of crap:
1. It's too expensive for the markets.
2. The games will probably be crap.
3. Famiclones OWN those markets.

After going to MGC (Midwest Gaming Classic) this year I see it winding up in the few inches of spare space in the back by next year. But still kind its kind of cool there is still second party consoles coming out.

Yep. The best game they have right now is Quake. Quake 1.
Avoid at all costs.

They'd be far better off with a PSP at that point, especially considering you can hook it up to a TV now...
