Seriously. This laptop has a 120GB HDD; I've had it for two years and I still haven't managed to fill it up completely.
I had to wipe my computer 4 times last month, I have a 360gb HD that I fill all the time.

My laptop's hard drive is filled right now. Its like a 160 GB.

But most of that stuff is movies (legally ripped of course  ), music and what not.

And ya, video editing takes up a buttload of space. Haha

HD are really easy to fill. Just install Sims and the Sims2, both with every single expansion pack. That takes up a good chunk of space. Now install the Valve complete pack. Uh huh, another good chunk of space. Now get into ripping HDDVDs (360 HDVD drive is so good for that part), uh huh. After 4 rips and hardrive would have a HUGE chunk filled up. And if you work with video editing, it's gonna fill up faster. If you are an artists, it will fill up fast, textures, High quality saves, scans etc. Then get PC gaming and after a few games you won't have any space. Each game takes up alteast a dvd worth. If the game is a DVD-9, that's almost 10gb worth of space gone right there. And since PC games can be cheap if you have a steam account, I ramble to much.

How about getting Anime and having the ability to make Blu-rays. Single layer Blu-rays take up 25 gigs.

I have a 320GB hard drive, and it's big enough. If I hadn't stopped attempting to make home movies, it wouldn't be. If I ripped DVDs, it wouldn't be.

And my steam directory HUGE! It's over 20GB for sure, and I stopped letting it count there. Also, I have two copies of it.

That, uh, that's terrible, you should look into reinstalling your system and perhaps running some optimization applications.

My old computer used to take 2 minutes. My old one before it died took 30 minutes to boot because the hard drive was failing.

 And you used it that way?!

My PC takes between 30 and 45 seconds between pushing the power button and having a 100% ready desktop. (No "Vista hangover" with XP SP1a.) The lappy takes a little longer, since it has more background apps running. (It's got HP's install of XP MCE, the desktop has retail XP Pro.) It usually takes my old piece of Image LCD longer to stop blinking and finally show the image onscreen. (The record is 5 minutes. Gotta take that thing apart one of these days to see if it has any bad capacitors, or if it's the backlight inverter. If it's the inverter, I'll have to either throw a bunch of LEDs in there or save up for a nice monitor.)

I need to do a massive cleanout of my HDD someday. I've probably got loads of unused and outdated programs or other various garbage I don't need. I have 30GB free space left currently; I could probably bring it up to 50+, at least.

When you rip all your CD's and Vinyl in .flac format you can fill up allot of space. DEATH TO MP3!

I actually have two 500GB drives in RAID 0. When your file size is under a 1G it doesnt really make a difference but when you start transferring data over 3G it makes a huge difference.
