*sigh* I'm screwed...

Post by xXxBlender3DxXx »

Well, this sucks...

I spent like 2 hours cracking open (gently) my phat PSP's battery. It worked fine (I checked) before I cut the fifth pin.

Now, the PSP won't even turn on with the battery (I made the MMS with some 137mb file...).
Works fine without.

Any help (I put the fifth pin back in place, but still no luck)?

Please?

Pictures?

You can also try soldering a wire from the 5th pin to B- as seen here.

Here are the best pictures that I could do at the moment (I had only a crappy 7-year-old LEGO Web Cam at my disposal).

(Sorry if I ask too much, I need to know things to help.)

You broke off pin 5?

When you pop in the battery, does the PSP's power light turn on (without you flicking the power switch)?

Is the WiFi switch off?

Are there no UMDs in the drive?

What program did you use to make the stick?

Answers to questions:

1. I broke off this pin:

2. When I insert the battery, nothing happens whatsoever. No lights, no sound.

3. The WiFi switch is off.

4. The UMD drive is empty.

5. I used "RainMMS", this thingy:

1. Uh-oh. Unless you can get that pin to contact the - terminal of the li-ion cells, it isn't going back to a normal battery.

2. That's not good. Does the battery have a charge? You can use a multimeter and measure the Li-Ion cells voltage.

3. I had no luck with Rain's MMS Maker (On XP and Vista). Try doing Chapter 2 of my PSP homebrewing guide to make a Magic Stick using PSPGrader.

maybe I'm special, but I broke the pin off and used rain's magic memstick maker, it's the only way I could get it to work :?

It looks like you cut a trace off to the right. Is it cut or scratched? From the other pictures it looks like that trace leads to the pins that actually go to the PSP.

I think gamefreakfatty is right, it does look like you cut that trace.

Shouldn't be a hard fix, either bridge it or use some kynar wire if you'd like.
Or, go all out, get a car window defroster repair kit, and do it the all-out clean way.

You mean I cut the wrong prong?

Maybe THAT'S why my PSP's charging light blinks when the system is plugged in with the battery!

No, you cut the right pin.
But it looks like you cut the trace next to the pin.

You only have to cut one thing, the pin.
From the looks of the pictures, you cut the pin, and the trace to the right of it.

NOW I see what you mean...

Is this what I cut by accident?

If so, how do I fix it?

Sorry for posting so much, but I have a problem.

When I put the battery into my PSP, (I have it plugged into a charger) the charging light blinks orange then black, orange then black, etc.

What is this supposed to mean?

Here's my video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5eXH_9WuDs
